biography
The legendary Laura Simon enjoys performing with many veteran southern musicians, including Barry Richman, George Price, Marvin Taylor and Reg Stainback on lead guitar, Jon Schwenke, Steven Mays and Rich Tomanio on bass, Melissa Massey, Leirre Valentin and Bobby Sterling, and Penny Fonner and Kari Savage on harmony vocals. Even her producer performs on her new release, BEACON OF LIGHT-a showcase of southern talent, playing lead guitar on one of the songs on the album. All of these wonderfully talented artist's are featured on this unique new Americana album, and gave a personal touch to each of their songs, making them a shining light.
This new album is being released nationally by Barnes and Noble this summer, keep an eye out for the CD release parties, TBA!
Laura's first album, FORCE OF NATURE, featuring 10 original Americana hits, is now available nationally at Barnes and Noble, you can order it anywhere in the US, and allow only 3-5 days for free delivery.
Her second album, RODE HARD AND PUT UP WET, a unique album featuring 8 "Simonized" classic rock hits, and 2 original blues tunes, is available at Barnes and Noble at the Mall of Georgia.
On the new release, BEACON OF LIGHT, Laura learned long ago that this calibre of talent is best left alone to create individual grooves that lend a personal touch to each song, giving an era sound to all 10 original songs, composed and arranged by Laura.
Laura plays acoustic and electric rhythm guitar, and sings the lead vocals, with a rich, smoky tone that commands attention and touches the soul and heart of those who take the time to listen.
THE LAURA SIMON BAND can be seen performing in various venues and festivals from Macon to Helen, Ga. Different artist's join Laura, Reg and Bobby for each show, lending a unique sound and making each show entirely different and fun!
This band is well worth hearing, and leaves a lasting impression.
Laura's grey eminence on the southern music scene flourishes as she struggles to give her audiences what they want, deserve, and somehow need.
What is important to Laura is that people listen to the lyrics of her songs, and are touched emotionally in some way.
