What Makes a song.....Songwriter discussion please comment back.
For every songwriter I guess it is different things that trigger us to create a song. It could be a hook line...something you hear or say and think 'wow' that would make a good song.
Or it could be an experience you go through or see somebody else go through and you think that would make a good song.
I guess for me it is a little of both....oddly when I write, the idea pops into my head and the entire song just kind of writes itself. (At least a rough draft) I am not a writer that can make myself write....It is there or it is not.
For me...I write the song and then forget it.....If I don't write it down when it comes to me, It is gone forever.
I have lost a lot of good songs because I was too tired or busy to get up and write it down and then thinking I'll do it in the morning. Morning comes and it is gone..to be forever lost.
After losing many songs that way I now carry a tape recorder.
Though I usually have a melody going through my head when I write it, I don't focus on it as much since I like to co-write with good musicians (which I am not)
So this is how a song comes to me.....please share your experience with us...
