About Me
SHELBY HORNER began his life in Champaign, IL on May 11, 1972. Raised a farm boy on 161 acres outside the nearby town of Ludlow, to say “country” is in his blood would be a immense understatement. In June of 1986, Shelby and his family moved to Loveland, CO, where music exploded into his life and awakened his talents. He realized singing is what he wanted in life, so he joined the local church choir at the age of 14. Soon he was performing in Barbershop Quartet's, schools and anywhere else he could find an audience. He was exposed to many genres of music during that time, his favorites being country and rock ‘n’ roll. His early influences, like many others, were George Strait, Randy Travis, and Garth Brooks. Add a little Styx, a pinch of Gospel, and a dab of The Bob's (an a capella group), and you have yourself one well-rounded singer – yet his heart remains country, like his roots. In the fall of 1996, Shelby moved to Nashville to be closer to the heart of Country Music. Since then, he has performed all over Tennessee, Colorado, Ohio and Nebraska, and written several of his own songs, some appearing on his debut album The Rest Of The Dream. His first single release, "Baby I Bet," is currently receiving widespread airplay on small and medium markets nationwide. Shelby has been a member of BMI since 2006 and continues to evolve as a songwriter, musician, engineer and producer. He has collaborated with and performed songs from some of the best writers in the industry. “Since moving out here I have met wonderful people, learned a lot, and still have more to learn. 2008 was a wonderful year for Shelby, with "Baby I Bet" climbing to the #80 spot on the New Music Weekly Charts and the #25 spot in that same publication’s “Up and Coming Artist” chart within 3 weeks of its release. A guest appearance on Billy Block’s syndicated “Locals Only” radio program and on-air interview on 103.9 WKDF FM led to a local release of the second single “Hey Angel” off of The Rest Of The Dream and an invitation to return to the show. CMA Music Festival was also hugely successful, with Shelby receiving sponsorships from NIXA Country Radio, Silver Eagle Bus Manufacturers, and SHM Studios. Shelby also spent time holding autograph sessions at several sponsor booths and packing venues at each of his live performances. 2009 looks to be an even bigger year, with Shelby focusing on new material, his second CD release, has had several appearances at CMA Music Festival 2009, and performing abroad. Shelby has just had a seccessful EP release party and showcase on June 5th at 12th & Porter in downtown Nashville to give his fans a peek at some of the new music featured on the upcoming album. With More to come very shortly for the rest of 2009.
