What is your favorite song of Jason's to play?I enjoy "Amarillo Sky". The tempo is really greasy and deep. Over the years, the guys and I have added more muscle to it's frame and we play it the way Zeppelin or Bad Company would have played it! You guys are like brothers and brother's and brothers have a tendency to disagree. Who do you disagree with the most?I tend to have arguments with Tully, but that's just because we have been playing together for 8 years now! The music usually improves as a result of our spats. Who has inspired you musicaly or in life in general? My parents have always set the example for having a strong work ethic, being caring, compassionate, and positive. They encouraged me to pursue my dreams and never had any doubt I would be a winner. As a result, I never had a doubt either. I've bee n influenced musically by all of the great drummers in history and I've had some great teachers as well...Jack Burgi, Byron Mutnick, Henry Vega, Alan Shinn, Ed Soph and Henry Ok...

Rich's Rockin' Roadies Interview!!!

11/25/2008 3:00 PM

The THREE KINGS (also known in circles as 'THE Dream Team') is a very popular, top call; Nashville based rhythm section consisting of KURT ALLISON (guitars), TULLY KENNEDY (bass) and RICH REDMOND (Drums and Percussion). The key to their success is their "strength in numbers", "us against the world" mentality. Together since 2000 they have toured and/or recorded with some of the biggest names in popular music: JEWEL, STAN LYNCH, LILA McCANN, MICHAEL PETERSON, ROBBIE NEVIL, EMILY WEST, JUDE COLE, LUCY WOODWARD, and many others. The THREE KINGs are currently the recording AND touring band with Broken Bow recording artist JASON ALDEAN. Their playing can be heard on every track of Jason's platinum selling debut which produced multiple top ten hits, including the 1 hit ("Why"). THREE KINGS are also prominently featured in Jason's 4 number one videos on CMT! Jason's second record, entitled "Relentless" was released on May 29th, 2007. THREE KINGS performed every track on this record as well! ...

NEW RICH REDMOND AUDIO INTERVIEW ARCHIVED AT WWW.DRUM.COM!!!

8/7/2008 3:00 PM

Not since Johnny Cash or Waylon Jennings has Nashville witnessed the emergence of a more colorful character. Connecticut born Rich Redmond has entered the city limits of Music City USA much like a Brama bull might enter a china shop.
Flailing arms, phat groove, twirling sticks, and a twenty-six inch...errr...kick drum, Rich is among the select few who will go down in music history as a drummer who has broken new ground in country music. His power, groove and inspiration keep him at the top of his game as one of Nashville’s busiest sidemen and studio players.
Redmond is no one-trick pony. When you listen to Rich’s tracks, you become painfully aware of how much more work you need to do. His freakish ability and understanding of playing styles is second to none. The precision and level at which Rich plays are shared by only a very few players on this planet. Add to this entire mix a guy who is so humble and passionate about drumming that he does all his own tech work.
I h...

NEW RICH REDMOND AUDIO INTERVIEW ARCHIVED AT WWW.DRUM.COM!!!

8/7/2008 3:00 PM

When jotting down notes about Rich Redmond, you better have a LOT of ink! Rich has been the driving force behind many of todays hottest artists and is currently keeping beat for sky rocketing artist, Jason Aldean. Boasting numerous hits including "Amarillo Sky", "Johnny Cash" and the #1 hit "Why", Rich is a wanted man. Juggling studio time for various artists, showcases for new artists and travelling the road supporting Jason Aldeans latest release, "Relentless", Rich has very little down time. With that being said, it truly was a priviledge to sit down with this workaholic and see the true man behind the percussion. Ladies and gentleman, Rich Redmond!

DMN – How was playing on the Craig Ferguson Show?

RR – It was great! It was pre-taped in sunny Los Angeles a couple weeks before the airing. I was sick as a dog with a horrible cold but the show must go on! I wasn’t happy with the audio / video sync. ...

Sticks and Stones Interview!!!

5/3/2008 3:00 PM

The following is an interview I did in 07' with 'Sticks and Stones' magazine. be on the lookout for a new interview in an upcoming issue of 'The Black Page' drum magazine!!!

Rich Redmond Feature Interview

1.What are some of your fondest memories with percussion instruments?

Great question! I have been playing for as long as I can remember. I started banging around on countertops, desks, pots and pans, and my legs when I was 8 years old. My parents took immediate notice and asked me if I wanted to play the drums. What an awesome thing for them to do! Drums are usually the LAST thing parents want their kids playing!!!! (Ha!) I started taking lessons at The Milford and Percussion and Guitar Workshop in Milford, Connecticut. My teacher, Jack Burgi, thought I was really advanced for my age. I devoured all the information he had for me and practiced on a blue sparkle snare drum, a brown vintage kick drum and a cracked no name cymbal. I kept on wi...

GAC, KTLA , CRAIG FERGUSON!!!

4/19/2008 11:00 AM
