Growing up in a small town called Boaz in North Alabama my favorite band of course was the group Alabama. You name the song I can tell you what album it was on, what year it came out and where it peaked on the charts. Border line stalker or just a geek you make the call yourself. J When I got the call saying that Randy Owen wanted to come do a show for US 101 and wanted to give every penny that was made to the children at St. Jude I was blown away. I mean you have to understand this guy was my Elvis growing up. To know that even though he has won every major award known to man including being a member of the country music hall of fame and he wanted to play to raise money for this great cause WOW that gave me chill bumps.
The night of the show was TOO cool! We wanted to raise a few more dollars for St. Jude so we thought we would pass the offering plate a few times throughout the show. Randy came up with the idea to have people make a donation in the bucket on stage and he would p...

it was a wonderful night in louisville ky last night (tuesday) when randy owen played, acoustically, at a monthly 'girls night out' event hosted by wamz' coyote calhoun.

the club was joe's and it was well beyond a capacity crowd (500+) with people being asked for a donation to st. jude's hospital.

randy (and keyboardist steve {an amazing pianist!}) performed for an amazing 1 hour and 45 minutes. coyote was beside himself, smiling almost the entire evening.

prior to the show, i asked randy if it would be okay to 'sell' 10 photos of him to the first 10 people who offered up $20.00.he said sure (hind sight is we probably could
have gotten $50 a photo) for a private m/g after the show. coyote asked him if he would be okay with having the audience 'pay' for certain songs to be played. again he said yes.

well, the 10 photos were sold within seconds, literally. randy played a couple songs twice due to donations. 'feels so right' got a $100 ...

What started as a simple phone call from Randy Owen to WIVK’s Mike Hammond to see how he could help in the aftermath of the terrible Knoxville, Tennessee church shooting, resulted in a concert at the popular Cotton Eyed Joe Nightclub that raised over $10,000 for the families affected by the tragedy. In addition to a stop at WIVK, Randy conducted live interviews at the local CBS and NBC television affiliates and an in-person visit with the ABC at the venue the night of the concert.

Positive Response from Fans to Album and Memoirs

(Nashville, Tennessee…) – August 15, 2008 – Broken Bow Records has announced the release date of the debut solo album, One On One, from the lead singer of the legendary group Alabama, Randy Owen, has moved up to November 4, 2008. In addition, HarperOne, publisher of Owen’s memoir “Born Country,” has moved the release of the book up to the same date.

“Randy has made a fantastic album, and radio and fans are really reacting to his ‘Like I Never Broke Her Heart’ single,” said Broken Bow General Manager Brad Howell. “Having the book and album hit stores the same day gives us great synergy between the products at many key retailers.”

The “Like I Never Broke Her Heart” single is featured in People Magazine’s special Country Music issue, which recently hit news stands, and the single also hit iTunes’ Top 100 in its first week of release.

Knoxville church shooting

Coverage of the shooting that occurred at Tennessee Valley Unitarian Universalist Church on Sunday July 27.

When the lead singer of the country group Alabama comes to Knoxville for a concert benefiting victims of the July 27 shooting at Tennessee Valley Unitarian Universalist Church, every penny should go to victims.
Mike Hammond, program director of WIVK-FM, said the venue - the Cotton Eyed Joe nightclub off Lovell Road - is donating use of its facility, sound and light equipment for the concert on Friday, Aug. 15.
Club owner Gingi Bakri said, "I just feel there is no place for hate in this community and people are being (wrongfully harmed) for things. … We are part of the community, and we need to do everything we can to help out."

Singer Randy Owen called WIVK-FM last week wanting to help after the shooting, which left two dead and six injured by a gunman who police said was motivated by a hatred of liberals.
