Ok, so I took down the blog from Sunday, because even though I was sharing something with you and I had legitimate questions, it still felt a little negative, and I find that negativity breeds negativity. I read ALL your replies, and figured out very quickly that all of you who posted feel exactly the same way that I feel. We prefer no one be excluded from being a fan and a friend. Thankyou.
SO, here's what I want to say, I love and appreciate each and every single one of you! Seriously!

What I've learned is that like minds and like hearts usually always find each other and group together and stick together. That's a good thing...because that's how we make things better, and I believe that's how God uses us to make the world a better place. I know, it sounds a little sappy, but I don't know how else to put it.
I've said onstage before and I'll say it again here, it's not about living ...

Hi all! I hope you're doing great today! Me...well I'm on top of the WORLD! WHy? Because of YOU! The video just moved back in to the top 10 on GACTV because of your voting efforts on my behalf! Now that's awesome! 9 to be exact! You sure made me smile with THAT one! And then there's our 5th week at 1 on CMTpure. YES!!! See, to me every week we're there just means that more people get to see me and hear the music and more people in the music industry have to take notice that YOU are all out there and growing in numbers every day! And THAT is what it's all about! GAining new fans, keeping our veterans and growing and moving forward.
I never wanted to be like other artists and start a paid fan club for a few reasons! The main one being that I NEVER WANTED TO EXCLUDE ANYONE! No tone single person. The other reason being that I feel like theres something wrong with charging someone to be a fan when they are buying CDs , tickets...

CMA MUSIC FEST

I had a blast at CMA Music fest! I really look forward to it every year because it's the one time that all of you (or quite a few of you) come to MY hometown instead of me having to travel to see YOU! Should be easier then shouldn't it?
NO! cuz there aint anywhere to park, and some people at venues are rude and pushy and in a rush...and that's the people that are from Nashville!!! What the...!!
Seriously though, what I just said is a little bit exaggerated but it's still true to a degree. In a perfect world there wouldn't be so many people here and you could all actually come visit and see how awesome NAshville is. There is so much History and tradition and TALENT!! It's amazing! It's the first town I've ever lived in where there are more like me than not. I've always been a night owl since I was a little boy, and this town is full of them! Riverbank

Robert Arthur, Kirk Roth and I wrote Riverbank as a simple tribute to our Fathers.
At the time, both their dads had been deceased for quite a few years and mine was already fighting and slowly losing the battle of his life with Cancer and diabetes. We both knew that he didn't have long, and I went home every chance I could to spend time with him. As his bad days got worse, and his good days became fewer, we talked a lot, remembering better times.
One of the things he did a lot when I was a kid was to take me and Mama and my little brother fishing on the banks of Pearl River in Mississippi. We'd catch a string of catfish and take them home for Mama to fry for supper. Sometimes we didn't even get a nibble, but we were together and that's what really mattered.
Daddy said God would provide, and He always did.

Cmafest and Voting for the video

Hey friends, I want to thank each and every one of you all who came to Nashville this week for coming to our shows, for enduring the heat and the long lines, and who were patient and kind and understanding of the vendors where I personally signed at their booths. As you know, at CMA MUSIC fest I don't get to set the rules , I , like you, have to abide by the rules that others make if I want to participate in this awesome event!
I landed in LAX in Los Angeles, and as I'm typing this Rick, Robert, Barry and I driving from LA to Visalia to play at JUGfest tomorrow. I'm posting this using my new Verizon USB modem that I recently accquired to help me stay connected to you!! It works great!!
My understanding is that we are at our 3rd week at number 1 on CMTpure 12 pack video countdown. THANKYOU ALL!

I WAS RECENTLY MADE AWARE OF SOME OF YOU WHO FEEL LEFT OUT, OR LIKE I AM PURPOSEFULLY AVOIDING YOU AND CATERING TO OTHERS. I CAN ASSURE YOU THAT IS NOT THE CASE AT ALL. THIS MYSPACE PAGE HAS GROWN FROM 400 FRIENDS 4 WEEKS AGO TO ALMOST 1900 AS OF TODAY AND THEY KEEP COMING IN! THAT IS A GOOD THING! MOST OF THEM ARE NEW FANS WHICH WE/I WELCOME WITH OPEN ARMS!

WELL, I JUST GOT BACK FROM BOWLING IN HERMITAGE WITH LONESTAR AND FRIENDS. HOW FUN! BOY WAS I AWFUL! I THINK I GOT 1 STRIKE AND 3 GUTTER BALLS! BUT HECK, IT'S HARD TO BOWL WHEN EVERYBODY'S WALKING THROUGH YOUR LANE AND I'M TRYING TO SIGN AUTOGRAPHS AND TAKE PHOTOS AND SUCH! KATHY AND EILEEN AND ANITA AND SELENA and SERENA WERE THERE AND KATHY ACTUALLY GAVE ME SOME REALLY GOOD POINTERS! I ACTUALLY BOWLED WITH BEVERLY'S SON WHO KEPT US FROM HAVING THE LOWEST SCORE! MY FRIEND ELIZABETH AND HER MOTHER VALERIE WERE THERE ALSO. ELIZABETH HAS BEEN BRINGING ME CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES SINCE SHE WAS 13 YEARS OLD! THEY'RE REALLY GOOD BUT THEY DON'T LOOK GOOD ON MY REAR END! LOL

SEVERAL PEOPLE ASKED ME ABOUT MY DR. VISIT. NOTHING SERIOUS, JUST UPPER RESPIRATORY TRACT INFECTION AND ALLERGIES. NOTHING A LITTLE ANTIBIOTICS AND REST WONT TAKE CARE OF, BUT THANKS FOR CARING!

So ... I wanted a spot on the new website where I could come and keep a journal of my thoughts ,my feelings, talk about upcoming events, or ones already taken place. We've been trying to get it up and running for a couple of weeks, and as you can see- the new button for my journal is at the top of of the tool bar on WWW.JEFFBATES.NET- but I can't post in yet for some reason! So here's the slightly edited version of my first post there. LOL
Let me begin by saying Thank YOU for visiting my website, for posting on the message board and for being a HUGE part of my life and career. You all are simply the best!
