biography
Rick Alan Carpenter’s music has been described as “Merle Haggard meets Gram Parsons at a Dwight Yoakam concert” and he’s just fine with that. “I’ve always liked the Bakersfield Sound, Texas Country, good ol’ hillbilly honky tonk with a fiddle and a steel guitar” he laughs. “Songs of love and loss, heartache and regret tinged with humor and irony.” Rick has worked in numerous rock and country bands in Los Angeles and Nashville opening for “everyone from Boy Howdy to Van Halen, playing guitar here, bass there, but always writing.”
In 2005, he released “Outside of Nashville” a 6 song EP which “continues to exceed all expectations, selling more copies and being heard in more places than I ever imagined!” He appears regularly at writer’s nights in and around Nashville, and recently put a new band together consisting of Dave Melton on stand up bass, Chris Melton on guitar, and Robert Goeres on drums. He is currently “writing like crazy” for his next project, “and the ones after that!”
