biography
I am an active singer/songwriter in the Sarasota, Fl. area. I currently have 3 cd's out under independent labels. Just uploaded my fourth c.d. recorded at KMA Records in Nashville. These songs have been called, by Keith Bradford of KMA, a combination of Americana and country--"Americountry". They are certainly unique and fresh--not like much of what you hear on the radio today.
Vocally and lyrically my songs seem to combine Dylan, Prine and Cohen. This is not an attempt at imitation; however, influences are influences. Much of the lyrical and metrical end of my songs come from editing a national poetry journal and publishing in several anthologies over the years. Poetry has certainly added a subtle depth to my lyrics. Because of my love of poetry my lyrics and delivery differ from pure country. I put more emphasis on imagery than on hook lines. I am not a country singer---more folkish I'd say...hence....that is why Keith Bradford called my songs "Americountry"--Americana lyrics set to a country band sound. My music brings to the listener a message of simplicity to a hard world,.
I am a member of the Floridal Friends Of Folk.
Aslo, I have been a national finalist in both songwriting and flatpicking events.
