Kenny Chesney grabbed the title for his current Poets & Pirates Tour from his hit "Better As A Memory," and he employs some Barbaray Coast imagery in the staging for the stadium dates. Pirates historically were thieves on the high seas, but Kenny says that’s not really the point of the title.
"I mean the pirate part in the best way possible, not as the kind that’s stealing from everybody — that’s not what I’m talking about," Kenny told the national radio show GAC Nights: Live From Nashville. "I’m just talking about how we always have someplace else to be. When you make your life out on the road, and when you live it like we do, we’re modern-day pirates. We’ve just got satellite remotes and Charmin, you know? That’s it. That’s the only difference."
Well, not the only difference. So far, there are no reports of anyone on the Poets & Pirates Tour having to walk the plank. The tour includes 14 stadium dates. The next one on his itinerary comes this Saturday at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia. The bill includes Keith Urban, Sammy Hagar, LeAnn Rimes and Gary Allan.
