Kellie Pickler releases her self-titled sophomore album on Tuesday, and it represents a larger investment of time and consideration than her 2006 debut.
The first CD, Small Town Girl, was recorded in a hit-and-miss fashion for logistical reasons. She was in the middle of the American Idol Tour and needed to get her first CD in stores while she still had momentum from the TV show. This time around, the whole process was much more planned, and the result, she told Billboard, is an album that’s "a lot more ‘me’ because we had the time to make it ‘me.’"
This time around, she chose a different producer: Chris Lindsey, who co-wrote her hits "I Wonder" and "Red High Heels."
"Chris and I became close because we’ve written so much together," she said. "[His wife] Aimee Mayo is like a sister. There’s so much chemistry between us three that we were just meant to work together."
Chris is not a newcomer to producing. His previous credits include Jimmy Wayne’s "Stay Gone," Chris Cagle’s "Breathe In, Breathe Out" and Mark Wills’ "19 Somethin’."
Kellie’s not the only artist with new music on the way this week. Also being released either on CD or digitally are Faith Hill’s Joy To The World, Craig Morgan’s Greatest Hits and Earl Scruggs’ The Ultimate Collection/Live At The Ryman.
