The Eagles dominate the music charts this week as a result of a major chart policy change by Billboard.

The music trade publication has revised its chart policy to now include albums that have exclusive sales only through limited retail outlets. In this case, the Eagles' new double CD, Long Road Out of Eden, is being sold at retail only through Wal-Mart and its Sam's Club stores.

The retailer previously had not made sales figures available to Nielsen SoundScan, which provides the data for the compilation of Billboard's album charts. In its first week of release, Long Road Out of Eden sold 711,000 copies, putting it atop both the Billboard 200 and country album charts. Previous exclusive Wal-Mart and Sam's Club releases by Garth Brooks were not reported to Nielsen SoundScan.
