about me
Anyone living in the Nashville, Tennessee area should be familiar with the name MANSKER.
Anyway!!!
I was born in Salem, Illinois in 1952. My parents are from the lower part of the state ( Alexander County ). They moved to Alma, Illinois ( Marion County ) about 1949 or 1950. In 1953 they moved to Odin, Illinois. That is where I grew up. I lived in Odin about 30 years or so.
I was a wild cat. I would stay up late and rome the streets with my friends. At one time we were called the wild bunch of Odin. There was only three of us in that so called wild bunch. The Odin policeman would tell us we had a curfew but we wouldn’t stay in. We would be right back out the next night. So he decided to use us as his eyes at night. If any body was speeding in town we knew about it and told the police who it was. We never had a curfew after that.
I could never keep a job. I bet I worked at every plant around and some that are not around anymore.
Party after party but I never was much for drugs. Just didn’t care for the stuff. Beer and a little had stuff was about it. Coffee shops or saloons that’s where I spent my time.
In 1989 I started careing for my brother Michael who has cerbral palsy. In 1995 I got married and stop smoking and drinking.
In 1996 moved to the country around Kinmundy, Illinois (Marion County ). Michael is still with me and doing well.
I used to play the Guitar but I never could get good at it. Now I pick it up about once or twice a year. My hands just don’t work the way they used to. Well that’s about it.

STRANGE BUT TRUE!!!!!
I don't remember the exact year or date. But it was
sometime between 1958 and 1960. I don't even remember
what season of the year it was. I do know it was before we
had a television. And the bathroom was an outhouse. The house
we lived in was in Odin, Illinois. The house set right between
highway 50 and the Illinois Central railroad. Our yard was like
a large triangle with highway 50 running east and west with
an overpass crossing over the railroad that ran north and south.
And Wood street was in front of the house. The closes street
light was at the railroad crossing which was about 100 yards
or more from our house on Wood street.
Our house at that time had only four rooms. Two bed-
rooms a kitchen and a livingroom in which was used for
sleeping three of us. I don't remember how many of us lived at
home at that time. There are ten of us kids and I am the baby.
The three that slepted in what was the livingroom at that time.
Was myself (Ronald) my sister (Bonnie) and my brother
(Michael). In the room was four doorways two with doors.
One of the two doors was to Mom and Dad's bedroom and the
other was the front door to the house. The other two door-
ways was to the kitchen and the other bedroom which later on
became the livingroom. And there was three windows east
side, west side and the south side of the room.
Mike slept in a twin bed between the south and west
windows. With the head of the bed at the south window. My
sister and I slept in a full bed with the head of the bed at the
east window. (I was only 7 or 8 years of age at that time).
From where I slepted I could see my brother's bed and the
south and west windows very well.
Now to the good part!!! But before I do
I need to remind you that this is true very true!!
I still remember it all very well.
One night late and everyone was a sleep but me. Why
I was still wide awake I don't know. The moon must have been
out that night. Because a small amount of light was coming
through the windows. I was just lying there looking over toward
my brother's bed. When all of a sudden in front of the south
window. There was hundreds of little colored lights. Not bright
lights but kind of dull lights all moving around in front of the
south window inside the room. Red, blue, green, yellow all
colors. And then the lights got darker and darker. The next
thing I saw was a man like figure standing there. Looking over
my brother's bed. I thought it was Mike at first, but I could still
see him in his bed a sleep. Then I thought I was imagining things.
So after a few seconds I moved in the bed to see what would happen.
What happened was he turned toward me. I immediately went under
the covers. A few seconds later my sister whispers to me saying she
thought there was someone in the room. She wanted me to call out for
Mom and Dad. So that is just what I did. Dad and Mom came running
out turned on all the lights in the house. Dad also looked outside and
found nothing!!
We don't know what or who was in the house but I know there was
someone or something because I seen them. I will never forget that night.
So you could imagine how I felt when I first saw the TV show Star Trek
and they used there transporters.
