about me
I'll be honest, when I was a kid, a DJ was NOT what I wanted to be.
I had every intention of being a Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader (not because I like the Dallas Cowboys, they were just the only cheerleaders I'd ever heard of when I was 4), and I also wanted to be Barbie and Elvis.
But I found out pretty quickly that THE MAN was going to keep me down if I tried to pursue my dreams, so I had to find another path.
I started my actual entertainment career as Dee, the sarcastic sister on What's Happening. I followed that up with a short stint as Miss America, but was asked to return the crown when I picked a fight with Miss Arkansas -- and I STILL say she stole my bottle of Jack Daniels! Then, after an unsuccessful run for Governor of Guam, it was time to find something else to do. That was when I found out people would give me actual money for the two things I'm best at: running my mouth and playing music really loud.
What? You wanted the truth?
OK, the truth is, I was born and raised in Ithaca, NY, and even stayed there through college (Ithaca College, class of '94). But then the heat, humidity and giant tractor-sized bugs of Texas called, and I went down there and discovered country music (yeah, that was me -- who knew?). I spent 5 years in Texas, then moved up to Wichita, Kansas for the thrill and excitement of tornado season. But then, I got a hankerin' for real pizza, and I convinced myself the northeast winters couldn't possibly be as cold as I remembered (I was wrong), and spent four years in Northeast PA.
Now I'm the music director and afternoon DJ for WFRE in Frederick, MD. And yeah, they pay me to talk and play music really loud, which is such a cool job that I'm not sure I'm even cool enough to do it, but until they figure that out I'm gonna keep taking their money.
