About Me
Hi there. I'm Jackie and I come from Kirkcaldy in Scotland. My love of Country music began from a very early age when my mum and I used to sit every Thursday night at 8pm and listen to our local Radio Station bringing us all the latest tunes from Nashville. It was the only night of the week when I got to stay up late! Growing up I always knew I wanted to be a singer but singing was to come a little later in life than I had originally planned! As an aspiring teenager, I was interviewed on my local radio station about my thoughts on country music. Unknown to me the Programme Director was listening in and thought I had a great speaking voice. He offered me a job. For the next 12 years I hosted my own radio shows throughout the UK and Europe and had some of the most wonderful experiences of my life. One of the most memorable was interviewing AmericanTroops on their way home from the Gulf War. In 1998 I finally hung up my headphones and made my way to London where I signed up with an Entertainment Agency. I was offered my first full time singing job...a 6 month cruise around the Caribbean (It's a tough job! but someone had to do it!!). I worked every evening but had plenty of free time during the day. I would sit on the beautiful beaches looking out to sea, chewing on a pen and coming up with song ideas. By the time I came home in 2005, I had sung in over 42 different countries and chewed my way through as many pens. But I had a song for almost every new experience! My latest album "Cross The Border" features some of these songs plus a few classic covers that I have been wanting to record for sometime. My reworking of Motorhead's "Ace Of Spades" went straight to No1 in the British Country Hot Disc Chart in Sept 2007 and has received an incredible amount of interest. Nowadays my main efforts are concentrated on singing and songwriting. However, I recently dusted off my old headphones after being asked to join the Presentation team to help launch Smooth Radio Scotland. In May 2008, I joined CMR Nashville (Europe's No1 24/7 Country Music Station). I host "The Country Cafe" every Saturday between 10am-midday and I'm delighted to say that after it's first week, the show's audience figures doubled. The show is now repeated at various times throughout the week. "CROSS THE BORDER" (Cat No PHR-0511-CD) is available worldwide from hmv.co.uk or as an import throughout Canada via phdcanada.com Thanks for reading this and please drop by anytime. It's always lovely to hear from you. Love Jackie x
