The FLORIDA SUNSHINE OPRY of Central Florida! Started as an idea 6 months prior opening the theatre! The Leesburg High School Auditorium was where dreams became a reality, as legends honored the stage there! Tommy Cash, Helen Cornelius, Robin Young (Faron Young’s son) Narvel Felts, JR and Donna, Robert Cook, Cajun Dave & Micheal Eck Show ... Founders June & Chuck Eck saw the potential of having an Opry in the small town of Eustis, and how the local people longed for good country music. June & Chuck wanted a good family place where musicians could meet, and people would get Good Country Western Music! They finally moved their show to the Old Eustis Theatre, to what it is known today as "The Florida Sunshine Opry"! June & Chuck made their dreams become their reality! The FS Opry has been going strong for well over 8 years now! With top Nashville Acts, top name stars as well as so many local artist! Their story does continue as June did get to see their Opry become a reality, as well as Chuck always right there to make it happen! But sadly in 2006, a silent tragedy hit the Eck Family, and June was diagnosed with cancer. I saw June right before she passed on, and she told me Dave, thank you for being a part of our family. What a fantastic couragious lady! But she wasn't going to let her family down. June would come out to many of the shows, despite her illness! She certainly loved being around her Opry, and the family atmosphere she and Chuck had created! But her cancer unfortunately overcame her. June's spirit and memory will always remain a part of Florida Sunshine Opry! And the family atmosphere they are so noted for, will always remain a top priority! Chuck is doing well these days and you can usually see him often at the Opry. Come on out and be a part of the family atmosphere that June and Chuck started! June's daughter Charlene and their son-in-law Scott, run the Opry now, it was just too much on Chuck. Charlene and Scott are determined to keep the dreams of what their mom and dad started! Most importantly that family country atmosphere! ***************************************************************** So many artists have performed on FSO stage and entertained the country starved audience! I've had the pleasure in the past as a band member, but today the band continues, and what a great house band it is, to back up, or perform with... Big names such as legendary Hank Thompson, legendary Ray Price, Bobby Bare, Johnny Russell, Hagar Twins, Johnny Counterfeit, Darrell McCall, Johnny Lee, David Frizell, Michael Twitty, Jack Greene, Ronnie McDowell, Narvel Felts and Tommy Cash, naming a few...have graced our opry stage! And also our local talents that help and have helped support us in the past, and on a continuing basis...
