If Brad Paisley had a daughter similar to the likes of Shirley Temple, she would think and behave much like up and coming singer-songwriter, Brittany McDonald. While her lyrics showcase her sense of humor and honesty, much like that of Mr. Paisley’s, Brittany’s sassy and independent attitude resembles that of the cheeky Miss Shirley. Brittany says, “We need light-heartedness and sarcasm. Life is too short, why make everything in it so heavy?”
However, don’t let her playful and feisty songs fool you, there is much more to this girl than meets the ear. She states, “If there was a way to overuse the term overanalyze, I think I’ve found it. No matter how ridiculous it might sound, everything I write stems from a significant ideal. My opinion merely manifests itself in the delivery.” In her comedic kiss-off song, Another Wanna Be, “I’m not a wanna be celebrity/ Not into copying made up reality.” Brittany finds a way to express her rise against the importance that society places on celebrities and materialism, while poking fun at the Paris Hilton’s of the world.
Though just 24, Brittany possesses a maturity that every audience can relate to. Her fresh perspective and distinctive, powerful vocals exemplify that of a multi-dimensional artist, with great promise. Brittany says, “I want people to love music again. Somewhere along the way we started focusing on what the artist was wearing, rather than what they were saying. There are still plenty of talented artists and musicians who care about the messages we are sending, and the lives we are impacting. Ultimately I hope my music can not only relate to people and make them feel good, but makes them think at the same time.”
