The Kiger Band has quickly established itself as the HOTTEST HIGH ENERGY COUNTRY ROCK BAND in the Pittsburgh and surrounding area!
Our song list includes current top country rock hits as well as original songs performed only by The Kiger Band. The original songs include a number of songs written by Nashville song writers submitted to The Kiger Band specifically to add our touch of "high energy attitude" we exude. That is evident by the very first song we recorded, “Redneck of the Woods” written by Dr. Jim Smith, and has been aired on radio stations across the country, such as Froggy Radio, Y108 and Independent Music Network.
The Kiger Band does not just provide dance music but offers full entertainment by capturing the total attention of the audience! The Kiger Band interacts with the audience in such a way that the audience feels they are part of the show.
Listed below are some of our accomplishments:
* When we first joined DigitalRodeo.com, our song “Redneck of the Woods” was on their Top 10 List for four months. They were so impressed that they chose our song to be part of Volume One of Digital Rodeo’s very first CD release, which was handed out at the CMA Festival by Aaron Tippin in June 2007. There were 30,000 CD’s distributed to the fans.
* On August 21, 2007, we were one of only three bands chosen to perform on the First Commonwealth Main Stage at the Westmoreland County Fair – Blake Shelton, PovertyNeck Hillbillies & The Kiger Band.
* We started a charity event called “Rockin Country Cares”, a benefit for the Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (TAPS). The event was held at Saddle Ridge in Pittsburgh on September 2, 2007. Aaron Tippin participated in the event along with other local country bands.
* In early 2008, we entered a contest on www.DigitalRodeo.com/HotCountryMusic. Our song won the Country Outlaw category, which was voted on by fans on Digital Rodeo. We are invited to Nashville this December to compete for “Song of the Year”.
* In June 2008, we submitted our original song “Redneck of the Woods” to the CBS Radio affiliate Y108 and were chosen out of thousands of registrants as one of the Top 10 to participate in the Kenny Chesney Next Big Star Contest. Y108 listeners then voted for their favorite bands and we were chosen as the final four to battle it out at the Hard Rock Café on June 13, 2008. We performed the next day on the Y108 stage (outside of Heinz Field) at the Kenny Chesney Concert.
The Kiger Band is available for Corporate & Private Parties.....
The Kiger Band consists of six members (plus various guests) that come together to create a synergistic result. The band members include:
John Kiger - Owner & Lead Vocals
John first honed his “front man” skills via a successful karaoke business he created 10 years ago. He had formed a following of fans that came not only to sing with him, but to hear him sing! John sang “My Girl” as a guest singer with The Temptations in September 2000 and March 2001. He then auditioned among 600 people to get the role of “Dominic” in Tony & Tina’s Wedding dinner theater in Station Square. He performed weekly at Station Square in Pittsburgh for two years. John then started a band and his success enabled them to open for the nationally known PovertyNeck Hillbillies, Dusty Drake & Aaron Tippin. John has been around the modeling and entertainment business for many years and has recently played a role in the upcoming movie filmed in Pittsburgh called “Mysteries of Pittsburgh”. John is a current member of Nancy Mosser Casting.
Jordan "J-Dogg" Garbin - Backup Vocals & Percussion/Drums
Jordan has been in music since he was 5-years old and has played a multitude of instruments. He was offered a scholarship at Duquesne University majoring in music. He currently plays percussion/drums for The Kiger Band. Jordan is the successful business owner of Pure Power HPC, Inc. We are very proud to have him in our band!
Mark Fickley - Rhythm Guitarist
After several years of formal training with keyboards, Mark picked up an acoustic guitar in high school and has been playing one ever since. Mark's musical influences are diverse and include The Beatles; Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young; Loggins & Messina; and most especially, Dan Fogelberg. Over the years, Mark developed his own musical style which blends various facets of these great artists into his own unique folk-rock style. Most recently, Mark has been performing in clubs and private events as a solo acoustical act, performing the singer-songwriter styles of Jimmy Buffet, James Taylor and The Eagles. Occasionally, Mark has been seen sitting in with the Regular Joe's, adding his voice and acoustic guitar work to the duo. This past summer, Mark performed as the opening act for The Kiger Band, and was subsequently invited to join the group. From there, he became the rhythm guitarist for the band and has been busy making the musical journey from the soft, “California-style” folk-rock of his roots, to the hot country-rock sound that The Kiger Band is known for. With guitar work, background vocals and an occasional vocal performance of his own, Mark helps to complete the unique country-rock sound and style that is The Kiger Band.
Gary Hill - Lead & Rhythm Guitarist
Gary, hails from New York City, having recently relocated to Pittsburgh with his wife and ‘Burgh native, Peg, and their son Jimmy. He began his study at the Age of 16 on his first of many Fender guitars and has played to audiences throughout the Greater New York and Pittsburgh area ever since.
