Chapter 1
Late September 2000 Larry Jones was sitting in the San Antonio airport waiting for his connecting flight.
He kept looking at a letter that told him to report to Laredo. He did not know what he was going to do; for it has been three
years since he last worked on a case for the CIA. He has just been doing paper work, trying to make a full recovery from his
wounds that he sustained on his last case. He was wondering, if he still had what it took to work on any kind of case, since
the last case that he and his partner, worked on, almost cost them their lives. He kept remembering how he was left in a pool
of his own blood to die, down in Costa Rica. He was kind of scare, at what was waiting for him this time, he was wondering
if he was ready for what laid ahead. He has been with the CIA for about fifteen years now. He has many scars to show for his
years of fighting crime. Fighting drug-traffickers, armed robbers that robber American interest in foreign countries, international
murderers and other dangerous elements. He was wondering if he was going to be working with his friend Charlie Rose. They
knew each other since they were in high school, back in the seventies. Charlie was shot too, working on the same case, but
he came through better than he did. Charlie was able to pick up where they left off. It has taken Larry almost three years
to get well again. He watches the people; they were starting to move towards the gate to board the plane, when a young woman
ran into him, knocking the letter from his hand. He bent down to pick it up; the woman’s bag hit him on the head. She
muffed soft apologies as she smooth some loose strands of hair from her face. Larry could see that she was very nervous and
beautiful. Once on the plane, the young woman was trying to put her bag in the overhead compartment when she dropped it, hitting
Larry on his forehead. He grabbed it and stuffed it in the compartment then helped her to her seat. Which was beside his?
He was rubbing his forehead as he sat down. She reaches and rubbles it for him. She again apologizes to Larry, asking him,
“Are you ok, I’m so sorry, I’m just scared to fly.” Larry replied, “It scares me to, when I
fly, but it sure is better, faster and safer then driving!” The young woman adds, “I’m Janice Morland. Really,
feel bad for all the trouble that I have caused you. Maybe we can get a drink and a bite to eat once we get to Laredo?”
Larry told her, “That would be ok with me. That may be the only way to keep you from hitting me. You know a woman has
never picked me up before. I’m Larry Jones” He was not going to give any thing else about himself. She asked,
“Business or pleasure. Are you married? I do not usually go around picking up men, but you just look different then
the rest of the men that I have met. You look like you could use a friend.” Larry replied, “It’s a pleasure
trip, me and some old school friends are going fishing in Mexico for a few weeks before it gets cold. In addition, no I am
not married. Just what is this look that makes someone to seem to need a friend? What brings you to Laredo?” Larry was
not a big man, he was of average height weight about 160 pounds, he had sandy blonde colored hair that was parted to the right
side, and he needed a shave. He wore boots, blue jeans and had on a western type shirt. He really was not handsome, but not
ugly neither. Janice tells him, “My oldest sister lives east of Laredo, she is going to get married next week, so me
and my three other sisters are going to spend some time with her before she does. She has a big ranch with cows and horses.
We grew up there but moved to Kansas City when I was young, she stayed here.” When the plane took off, she grabbed Larry’s
arm very hard, for it scared her very bad. She had a folder on her lap and it fell on the floor. Larry bent down to pick it
up for her. She quickly took it from him, but not before, he sees some of the pictures. He was thinking how some of them sure
looked like people that he used to know in his time on this planet. One picture really brought him, almost to tears. It looked
very much like the love of his life, Marian McGatten. He remember how they met each other that day back in 75. How their eyes
met the very first time, how neither one looked away for along time. He left her when they got out of school to set the world
on fire, he told her that when he had a good job he would come back to marry her, so that they could be happy together for
all time. After eighteen months, he went back to take her for his wife. However, her father told him that she been killed
in an auto accident. Larry did not believe him at all, because he knew that he never liked him. Her mom took Larry outside
and hugged him, she whispers in his ear, “Larry do not give up, and keep loving Marian, no matter what happens in your
life or where you may go. Someday you both will be together, just keep believing in your love for her, I know that she will
be doing the same for you.” Marian’s dad takes her mom by the arm and tells Larry, “Don’t listen to
her, she’s not the same since the wreck, she is not all together in the mind. She feels that Marian is going to come
back!” Marian’s mom yells, “Let go of me you sorry son-of-a-bitch! You told her that Larry would never come
back for her. She was trying to get away from you! She was going to Dallas to live with you, she really loved you, she was
going to have your child when you went away, she did not tell you, for she did not want to hold you down from the things that
you wanted to do! You have a beautiful daughter!” Her dad then tells him, “See what I mean, Marian was not going
to have your child. My baby girl was not that stupid to have a child without being married, not even with you, she was doing
fine. Why in the hell did you come back here for? Just go and live your life now, do what it was, that you set out to do,
just do not come back around here! You are not wanted around here!” Larry was leaving; he could tell that someone was
watching him from the window. When a young man stopped him and said, “Larry, Marian is still alive, and she lives in
Miami, but I can not tell you any more, however I can tell you that she did have your child, you have a daughter that is all
I can say for now. If dad sees me talking to you, he will beat me for it.” Larry just shakes his head, gives the young
man a business card with his phone number and address, kept walking, lit himself a cigar, got in his car, and drove away.
With a tear in his eye, he made himself a promise that he would never love anyone else in his lifetime. He made a promise
under the moon and the stars that he would find the person who did this to him. Someday he and Marian would be married. He
would make the people who did this to him, pay with their life. He tried for years to find her, why she disappeared with no
trace. He never went back home not even for his ten or twenty-year class reunion. It would bring back memories of her and
the love that he had for her. Charlie would tell him that together they would find her. Larry tells Janice, “I am going
to try and get some shut eye, it’s an hour flight, and I do not have any thing to read, one piece of sky looks pretty
much like another and it looks like it may rain.” He put his seat back as he shut his eyes and started thinking of the
good times that him, Marian, and his school friends use to have. Once at the airport, Janice had no problem in spotting her
so-called sisters. They were jumping and waving over the heads of the other people. She pulled Larry over to them, telling
them how she ran into him, hitting him with her carry on bag. She then asked, “Larry where would you like to have that
drink?” He replied, “My friends told me about this little place called Daddy Paul’s out on highway 59 east,
do you know about this place?” Janice’s oldest sister said, “My name is Mandy, I know where it is and yes
it is good, has the best cold beer in South Texas.” Larry added, “Give me about an hour; I need to get my gear
and a truck to drive. It supposed to be here already, I send it down a couple of days ago.” He was wondering why Mandy’s
name seems familiar to him. Janice gave Larry a hug and kiss and told him in his ear, “There is something about you
that just turns me on and makes me want you forever.” She patted him on his butt, making both of them to turn red. As
the group of five women was walking off, Larry could see that Mandy just kept looking at him with distrust in her eyes.
Chapter2
Men in fishing clothes approached Larry shuck his hand. One man told him, “Just act like we are your fishing
buddies, and we will tell you why you are here, so please come with us!” The other person added, “Larry we have
all of your fishing gear back here, we just need to get you a truck to get around in?” They took Larry to a small building
on the other side of the airport. Once in the building a man sitting behind a desk spoke, “It sure is good to finally
meet the legend of all law enforcement. You know back in 79 you saved my ass out in the field in Arizona; it was on that truck
high jacking case from Mexico. So Mr. Larry Jones how in the hell are doing. You sure dodging death all the time, you look
very good now.” He got up to shake Larry’s hand. Larry lit a cigar said, “Cut the bull-shit, and let’s
get to the chase. What in hell am I here for! You know it has been three years since I worked on any kind of case, after what
happen to me in Costa Rica. Is this going to take a long time, because I have this young and beautiful woman waiting for me
and she is hungry if you know what I mean?” The man said, “I’m Preston Williams, can you please put the
cigar out?” Larry told him, “Hell no I will not put it out this is still America!” Preston added, “The
reason that you are here is a friend of ours was working on a case down in Mexico, just across the border from Zapata, he
has seem to go missing. We have not heard any thing from him for two weeks now. In addition, just before he left he asked,
that if anything happen to him call you. He asked for you by name. Mr. Jones.” Another man put some pictures on a table
and asked, “Mr. Jones, do you know any of these people in these pictures?” Larry looked at them and said, “Yes
I know all of them why! The first one is our friend Charlie Rose, he is the best field agent the CIA ever had. Because of
him is why I became an agent. The second one is Gary Hamilton who is a drug dealer and he will do anything for money, the
third one is Randy Brown he is a gun dealer from Miami and the last one is no other than Colonel Stan Rose. He is properly
the most militia-trained person in the world! Colonel Rose started his military career with the French army and had a lot
of training with the American military. He served in World War 2, Palestine in 1948, Greece in 1949, French-Indo-China 1950-52,
Korea 1953-54, Arab-Israeli of 1956, Vietnam 1960-64, and three more mid-east wars in the 60’s and 70’s. Then
in the mid 70’s he started selling his skills to the highest bidder. I learned that he teamed up with Gary about ten
years ago.” Mr. Williams tells Larry, “We know that Gary is selling guns internationally as well as selling drugs
from Mexico. Charlie was trying to bring him back to the United States to stand trail for crimes that he has committed against
the United States. Charlie has been working on this case for three months down in Mexico. Now no one has heard from him in
two weeks. The CIA wants you to go and find him, bring him back alive. Putting a stop to Mr. Hamilton would be a bonus. He
is buying land from the Mexican farmers very cheap. These farmers’ homes and land has been burned or their crops have
been damaged beyond any help, making them to lose everything. This Colonel Rose is helping him to build his army; he is breaking
people out of jails on both sides of the border from Del Rio to Brownsville. The Mexican army or the police have not been
able to stop him. They seem to be out gun and out staffed by Hamilton’s army. If any of these people refuses to help
them, they are killed and returned to the jail from where they were taken.” Larry tells Mr. Williams, “I will
not stop till Charlie is back in the U.S., safe and sound. This time Mr. Hamilton and Randy Brown will not get away with their
crimes even if I have to kill them myself. Randy Brown tried to kill me a few times before, this time it is personal! You
know its kind- a funny; we all use to be friends back in high school. I know that Randy had something to do with Marian McGatten
disappearance, some twenty-five years ago. She was my girlfriend back in school. We were going to get married. Charlie was
going with her sister Debbie. I was told that we had a daughter. She never told me that she was going to have my child.”
Larry added, “I will take them to Dallas. Now like I told you when I came in, I have this beautiful lady waiting for
me, and she is yielding if you know what I’m talking about.” Gary Hamilton always got what he wanted when he was
a kid. His family always seemed to have money. He drove the best cars, had the nicest clothes. He joined the army after high
school. He got out and married his school sweetheart Mandy Bemis, moved to Miami, had a couple of kids. Therefore, to keep
up his life style he had joined the drug smuggling business and anything else that will make him some big bucks. Him and Mandy
have been divorce and remarried a couple of times. Randy Brown stayed at home after school. He took all kinds of training
in firearms and later moved to Miami when Gary called him to join his group. He sells weapons of any kind to anyone who has
the money. The FBI has been trying to bring him down for the past fifteen years, but he always seems to beat the rap. He joined
up with Gary for he liked the good life too. Charlie Rose was Larry’s best friend in school. He joined the Marine Corps
after high school. He was selected to attend the Scout Sniper School at camp Pendleton. He became so good at this; he became
a consultant to the Corps. To police SWAT teams in major cities around the world. Then he went to work for the CIA as an under
cover agent and got Larry to joined also. They have worked on three cases now together not counting this one. Larry Jones
was the calm and quite one of the group. He was the smallest one, but the best fighter. After school, he left to find his
purpose in life. He left behind his sweetheart Marian McGatten. He really loved her. His plan was to get a good job somewhere
and then come back for her. She was going to have his child, ‘Which she never told him about. He ready loved her more
than any thing in life! He would give his life to save hers. He wanted to give her every thing that she would ever want or
need. She also loved him just as much. Her father did not like Larry at all and tried to keep him away from her. When he came
back for her a year and half later, he was, told that she had died. Therefore, he left and never went back there again; He
ended up taking courses in all phases of combat training. He became so good that he became a member of the CIA controlled
MAC-SOG (Military Assistance Command- Special Operation Group). He is authorize to wear normal civilian clothing, carry unusual
personal weapons, pass into restricted areas, and requisition equipment of all types to do his job. However, no matter where
he was at, or what he was doing, he could never forget about Marian McGatten When Larry got back to the front of the airport,
he noticed that none of the sisters looked at all like each other. Mandy tells Larry, “Daddy Paul’s is about five
miles east of town on highway 59. They do have very good steaks. The owner is rather wild, he tells everyone that he used
to have a family, and they do not talk to him any more. He say’s that he use to be a FBI agent and he worked on all
the top cases in the seventies and sixties.” Janice gave Larry a hug and a kiss and told him in his ear, “There
is something about you that just turns me on and makes me want you forever.” Both of them turn red again, at what she
told him. Larry got his truck with all of his so called fishing and hunting gear. He lit another cigar and stuck a CD of Hank
Williams into the player and turned it up kind-a loud. He took off spinning tires and burning rubber on the payment, on his
way to the café called Daddy Paul’s The sisters were already eating when Larry arrived at the small restaurant. Janice
ran to him, hugging him, pulled him over to the table. Larry noticed that the bartender just kept looking at him in a strange
kind of way. Mandy asked, “Larry what is it that you do for a living? Don’t you think that Janice needs to fatten
up a little, and add some color to her skin?” Larry answered back, “She looks just fine to me the way she is right
now! I work as a draftsman, out in the real world, not in an office!” Another sister said, “I’m Christie.
Looks like you been in some places that good girls don’t know about,” Larry replied, “Which means that you
are not a good girl right. I am on vacation and I am going camping, fishing, and hunting down in Mexico with some friends.
That is why I look like this,” She just looked at Larry embarrassed and awkward; she hesitated and lowered her eyes.
She made an uncomfortable glanced at him and turned red. There was a small band getting ready for later. A group of bikers
was making fun of them. Christie went to a table in front because she thought the lead singer was cute. One of the biker women
walked up opens her blouse showing him her breast. This made Christie very mad, so she jumped up and hit the woman, grabs
her by the hair and pulled her to the floor hitting her. Two men grab Christie so the woman could get up and hit her back.
Larry grabbed one man by his arm turning him around and hit him right in the face knocking him out at the same time. Two more
men grabbed Larry so another could hit him. Larry threw up his legs and kicked the person in his chest knocking him down flipped
himself backwards over the two men who were holding him. He kicked the one on the right side between the legs and then threw
a flying four arm smash on his face making the man to fall backwards on the floor, and just as fast as lightning he picked
up the other man and body slammed him into a table breaking it, the man laid there out cold. By this time the band and other
sisters was fighting with bikers. He then drop kick the first person who was going to hit him, this just happens to be the
leader of the biker gang. The people stopped fighting and just looked at Larry not believing what they just saw him do. Everyone
moved back to let Larry and the leader to fight by themselves. The leader ran at Larry, he just stepped aside and grabbed
the leader by the collar of his shirt causing his feet to go out from under him, using an elbow drop on his chest at the same
time making the leader to hit the floor very hard on his back, then picked him up by his hair. Smashed him face first into
a table breaking it. As the leader was trying to get up, Larry kicked him in his side, and then hit him in the face knocking
him back down again. Another biker pulled out a pistol and pointed it at Larry; the bartender put a rifle in the back of the
biker and said in a broken voice, “Now what we were having, was just a good old fashion fight, man against man, I would
put that peashooter back in your’ pocket if you want to keep on living. Take your beaten friend and get your asses out
of here as fast as you can, because my finger is starting to get tight on this trigger and I do not know how much longer I
can hold it!” Larry sat down in a chair and drank his beer, which by now was somewhat warm. He was tired for he had
not fought like this in three years. Again deep down in the back of his mind he was wondering if he still had what it really
took to work and solve this case. The bartender told Larry as Janice was cleaning his face and hugging him, “Damn I
haven’t seen anyone fight like that since I use to do it myself many years and tears ago. However, you need to be getting
the hell out of here. Laredo’s finest is on the way here. I called them because I didn’t think that you had a
snowball’s change in hell of beating these bikers.” he patted Larry on the back and gave him a small package and
told him, “Thanks for the fun man, here is something that, you may be able to use later on! What ever you are doing
here, I just want you to know that I will be here for you if you need help. I was just like you thirty years ago, many people
who were close to me think that I died back then. Maybe you can help me with these people later on down the line. They used
to call me the legend back then, my name is Paul. But I made a very bad mistake back then that cost me everything in my life.”
The biker leader finally was able to get up on his feet, shaking his head, trying to clear the pain from his face. He just
kept looking at Larry as two of his men helped him out the door to his bike. Outside Janice and her sister’s could hear
the Laredo police coming. The singer shocked Larry’s hand and told him, “Damn what a good fighter you are. There
for awhile I was thinking that there was no way for you to win.” Christie asked the singer, “Would you like to
come and stay with me for a few days?” He replied, “Yes I would, and my name is Billy McGee. I ready did not like
being in the band anyway. This may be a lot of fun.” Janice told Larry, “Me and my sisters would like for you
to stay with us while you are on vacation. They all really like you a lot. Mandy’s ranch is very beautiful; I think
that you would like it!” Larry, Janice, Christie, and Billy were taking off when two police cars came into the parking
lot of the bar/cafe. Larry lit a cigar stuck his Hank Williams CD in and took off throwing dirt all over two more police cars.
They took in after him. He past a small dirt road and asked, “Do either of you ladies know where that road goes to?”
Christie replied, “It goes behind my sister’s ranch. We have to cross the county line to get to the back gate.”
Larry told them. “You better hang on tight!” He made a u-turn without slowing down. He motion for Mandy to keep
going straight. He was driving over a 100 miles an hour down the middle of the highway, causing the police cars to move over
and try to go back after him. One of the police cars ran off the road into a deep ditch. The other one was, able to turn around.
Larry turned down the dirt road and stopped causing the police car to slip and slide, flipping over on its side. Larry then
jumped out he told the other people, “stay here I be right back” he then dragged the two officers out of the car.
He made them to take off their clothes down to their under-wear including their shoes. He then threw the keys into a ditch
filled with water, handcuffed them together and told them, “If you want loose, you need to swim and find your keys.
And if you do what I say, you’ll live for another day.” In a lower voice he added, “I’m a CIA agent,
so don’t get in my way any more. I am working on a case. Tell your boss to stay away.” He then turned and shot
out the radio.
Chapter 3
The motorcycle gang rode up and circled around Larry. The leader got off his bike and walked up to him
and quick as a cat Larry grabbed him forcing his arm behind his back and down on his knees with a gun pointed behind his right
ear. The leader then spoke, “I know who you are man. We use to be friends years ago, back in high school. There has
only been one person who could kick my ass the way you did back in that bar, man. Larry I’m Davey; Davey Johnson.”
He tells everyone, “Hell man we use to be very good friends, he left and I lost all track of him over the years, we
sure had some damn good times back then. Larry if you let me up, there will not be any more problems.” Davey gave Larry
a big hug and patted him on the back. Christie then said, “Hell man since we seem to be, becoming friends, why don’t
we go and have a cook out, have some fun and drink a lot of beer and who knows what else we do?” Larry was already thinking
that maybe he could make a small outfit with all the people that he has met today to help him go into Mexico and get his partner
and friend Charlie Rose back. He was starting to feel that maybe he still had something left to work this case after all.
The group of people was sitting around a redwood table, shooting the breeze, and drinking beer, having themselves a real good
time. Mandy and Davey, talking mostly about their travels in half-truth, half lies, and keeping everyone in laughs, trying
to figure out which was which, dominated the conversation. Davey then asked, “Larry do you still play the guitar and
sing? He used to be good, everyone back home use to think that he would be a country singer. He used to play at the VFW hall
every Saturday night. All of us guys would get mad because the girls would always want to be with him. But he always left
with the most beautiful girl around “Marian McGatten”” Mandy’s ranch was over four thousand acres
big. There were some cows and over seven hundred head of horses. The house was big, had eight bedrooms with a bath in each
one of them. It was situated on a big promontory overlooking a lake on the backside, which took up about fifteen hundred acres,
by itself. The terrace was a lawn decorated with beds of flowers and bushes. One side had a cactus garden with small walkways
made of redwood leading in three different ways to small cabins on the lakeshore. The sight was very beautiful in the setting
sun. Larry fixed himself a drink of cola and Jim Beam. He walked over to the edge of the terrace; leaning on the rail, he
picked up a guitar and started playing a few songs. He sang a song for the sister that did the grilling for the group called
“I’m not a candle in the wind” then played “She never cried when old yellow died”. He noticed
even more how she looked very much like the love of his life, Marian McGatten. He just kept looking at her the whole time
and helped her to do the cooking. She never said a single word the whole time since he met the group. However, something kept
pulling at him from inside to talk with her. She would smile so beautiful, and only nod her head to answer any questions.
She would look at him sometimes and smile at him with a very beautiful and sexy smile then she would lower her head down,
she was very pretty. She made him feel like a little boy just as Marian did all them years ago. Janice walked over put her
arms around him as to tell him, that she needed him, not just for a good time or a one night stand, but for the rest of her
life. She then told him, “The building over by itself is a gym, and it has weights, a basketball court, and other equipment
in it. You can use it if you like. You look like you try to keep in shape by working out.” she smiled at him. She then
turned to the non-talking sister and pointed to Larry and then to herself that he was for her. The non-talking sister gave
a little wave to Larry as she walked inside; she just kept smiling so pretty at him. Larry finished his drink then went for
a walk down by the lake, he whistled for a dog, which was a germen Shepard, it was at his heels jumping up for and on him.
The non-talking sister was going to go with him but Janice pulled her back, then she ran after him taking his hand into hers.
She asked, “Would you like for me to tag alone with you?” Larry smiled and said, “That would be nice.”
He looked to see if the non-talking sister was still watching for he really wanted to take a walk with her so he could ask
her some questions. She just looked and dropped her head then turned and went back inside. They reached a small dock that
had a beautiful overhang, with flowering shrubs on three sides. There was a wrought-iron bench at the end for sightseers to
sit down. Janice asked, “Mind if we sit here in the setting sun and watch the ducks play?” She shook her head
for her hair to fall down. She wandered closer to the rail, catching her breath at the dying rays of the sun passing over
the different colors of the flowers onto the water, as it was setting for the night. She sits beside Larry, pushed her hair
back with both hands making her breast to push out. Larry told her, “Don’t do that! I like your hair that way?”
Touched her hand lightly. He smiled at her and said, “You are so very pretty!” Her serious large brown eyes fixed
on his face and she asked, “Can we spend tonight together?” Larry just looked at her but did not answer back.
She was drawled to the energy and passion that burned in Larry, like an inner fire that lured her to the rocky shores of his
intrigue. Her hair was long and shimmering-black, shinning like silk in the moonlight. Her voice was splendid, sensual. She
ran her fingers through Larry’s hair. Her eyes sparkled with tears. However, these tears that shore in her eyes never
fell. Larry was thinking to himself that Janice was setting herself up for a walk through hell. How would she handler someone
shooting at them. However, deep down in his heart he to, wanted her. He did not want to see her get hurt in any way. This
was the first time in twenty-five years that someone came close enough to touch his heart the way she did, since the first
time that he met and fell in love with Maria McGatten. He made a promise that no matter where he was, she would always be
the first and only love in his heart until he die. Therefore, he told Janice, “No, we can not spend the night. I love
to have you lay down with me. Forgive me; it has been awhile that I have been with a woman, since I almost died three years
ago.” Larry felt somewhat bad about lying to her, but what could she feel for him after only a few hours together. Larry
was thinking of the non-talking sister. Something about her just went to his heart. Seem like they used to know each other
in the past. When he first saw her at the airport, he got this feeling deep down in his gut. However, he could not tell Janice
about this. He already saw that she was trying to keep her from him. Larry went down to the gym picked up some weights and
shot some baskets for about two hours, he was trying to figure what was going on with all that he has been through just today.
He saw the non-talking sister just sitting and watching him with a look of affection in her eyes. She had on a long cape with
a hood. He wanted to go and talk with her and maybe take her to bed with him, but figured that it be best to leave it alone
for now, not to start any problems. She gave him some linen to use as he cleaned up. She reached up and kissed him. She then
opened the cape and pushed it down to her waist. She was not wearing anything under it. Her breast was standing up at attention
like a couple of soldiers. They were raising and falling as she was taking deep breaths; her skin was now covered with goose
bumps He just pulled the cape back up on her shoulders, covering her breasts. She just looked at him, her eyes, questioning
him. Larry took a shower then went by himself to the small cabin farthest away from the big house. He just kept thinking about
Marian and how the non-talking sister was so much like each other in so many ways. Her kiss really made him feel that the
world just stopped and stood still, just the way that Marian did, when they use to kiss each other. He fell asleep thinking
about the two women and wonder how his life would have been if he did not leave Marian. He was really beginning to believe
that they were the same person. He wanted to go to her room and make love to her. He lit a cigar and walked outside to look
at the stars The non-talking sister hurried back to her room in the cool dark night as to keep anyone from seeing her. She
opens her diary and wrote. “Today I re-met the love of my life, the father of my child Mary. When I kissed him for the
first time in twenty-five years, he still made the earth move under my feet. I felt as I was going to melt like a burning
candle. When he sang, it felt as he was signing to me again after all the time that has passed in my life without him. How
I still love him just like all my yester-years.” She closed her eyes and just kept thinking of Larry. She wonders if
he still remembers her after all these years. She finally cried herself to sleep thinking of the last time she saw him as
he was leaving their small hometown, headed to Dallas to make his way in the world.
Chapter 4
Larry was up before the sun, refreshed and full of energy. He woke up Davey, who had Mandy beside him
in bed. He told him, “Come and take a walk and talk to me.” Davey told him, “This woman is a wildcat. However,
I cannot remember when the last time I woke up feeling so great like I do. Now what in the hell are you doing here? The last
thing I heard about you was that you were killed somewhere in South America and that they could not find your body.”
Larry replied, “Well as you can see, I’m still alive and kicking. Shot and left for dead when I was working on
a case in Costa Rica three years ago. I am a CIA undercover agent. Our old school friends, Gary Hamilton and Randy Brown were
killing people down there and taking their land to control the banana market. So what the hell-are you doing here in Laredo
of all places to be?” Davey looked around to see if anyone else was out with them, and said, “Larry I got this
letter saying that an old friend was in trouble down in Mexico. That I should meet this guy named Pat in Zapata Texas, and
he would tell me everything to work this case.” Larry asked him, “Could this friend be Charlie!” Davey just
looked at him and shook his head as to say yes. Larry adds, “Charlie was working on a case in Mexico and he seemed to
go missing. This case surrounds Gary Hamilton again. Charlie is also a CIA Agent. We have worked together on three cases.
He and Debbie McGatten got married fifteen years ago she works for the FBI. She also has gone missing. The person who was
singing at the bar, is Billie McGee, he is an ex-Texas Ranger. He quit because he could not work the cases his way. He used
to hang around with us in school sometimes. His family moved to Texas after his father died. He does not know that I know
him yet, or maybe he does, but he does not want me to know. He is Gary’s cousin.” Davey told Larry, “Look
man I’m not really a biker, this is just an act. I am really a U.S. Marshall and these people with me are some of the
best young field agents that we have in training. None of these people has seen anyone that can fight like you. We use the
biker act so no one will know what and who we really are.” Davey told Larry, “I heard that Marian was killed in
a wreck, sorry about your lose.” Larry said in a very sharp voice, “She is still alive Davey! I know that she
is, sincerely. She is what has kept me going all these years.” He did tell Davey that he felt that the beautiful non-talking
sister was her. Mandy and Janice were up and taking a walk on the shore of the lake. Mandy was talking and laughing about
her night. The look on her face told Larry and Davey that she liked it very much. Janice cuffed up her blue jeans and splashed
in the water. The German Shepard ran over to her, knocking her down as he jumped up on her. She distracted him by throwing
a piece of wood out farther in the water. The dog went in after it, bringing it back to her. He was more playful by jumping
and barking and running around her. Davey told Larry, “Just look at Mandy, she’s a single lady, she’s forty-two
years old. What a tan she has. You know, her slim body can serve as a model for a sun tan lotion advertisement with that rich
golden-brown tan that she has. Her figure is delectable for her height with long and slender legs.” Larry was thinking
how could a young single beautiful woman like her be living on a big ranch down in the Southern Texas open land, and how did
she get all of this. The four of them went and had some breakfast. The non-talking sister again did the cooking. She just
smiled at Larry and touched his arm so softy. Larry asked, “Do you need some help?” She nodded her head as to
say no. He was really looking at her more now. Janice told him, “Just set down here and do you want some coffee?”
Larry said, “That would be great.” The non-talking sister gave him the coffee and then put some cream and sugar
in it for him as she did in the past at her parent’s house. Larry told her, “If I did not know better, I would
say that you have fix coffee for me before, you make it the same way that I do.” At eight thirty, Billy and Christie
came in to have something to eat. By this time everyone else was up and moving around. Again, Larry asked the non-talking
sister if she needs some help, she again nodded her head as to say no and just smiled at him so lovely. Mandy asked, “Can
you guys help me out today. I am selling sixty horses to a person over in Rio Grande City. He wants them today and I gave
my help the day off, would you all be a life saver and take them for me please?” Davey looked at Larry and Billy and
said, “We would be delighted ¬to help out such young pretty ladies any time, right guy’s.?” On the way out
the door to round up and load the horses on the trucks. Larry asked Janice, “What’s your non-talking sister’s
name, the one who does the cooking? Does she ever talk?” Janice tells him, “Her name is Marian. We all call her
Sissy.” His face turned kind-a pale as he just kept looking at her. Janice then added, “She had a car wreck some
years ago. She almost died from it. The police think that her husband caused it. She has a daughter that is twenty-five years
old; her in-laws took her away from her when she was small. All she thinks about is trying to get her back.” Marian
ran over to Larry and hugged him, telling him in his ear, “I always knew that you were still alive. I still love you
after all these years. I hope that you still love me. I knew that it was you when I saw you at the airport. You knew whom
I was to, right! Can you ever forgive me, for not telling you about our daughter?” Larry just smiled back at her as
to tell her that he knew who she was. He felt a inter peace come over him after he felt his heart fall to his feet, for he
always knew that she was still alive. She then asked, “Larry would you like to fly with me instead of driving a dirty
truck!” Mandy grab her by the arm very hard pulling and telling her, “He is not who you think he is, leave him
alone and go get the chopper warmed up!” She just kept holding onto his hands, for she longed for him all these years,
knowing deep inside her heart that he was still alive and still in love with her. Christie tells Larry, “She’s
just not the same since the wreck, she used to have a boy friend who got killed somewhere down in South America, but she thinks
that he is still alive and that he is the father of her daughter. Sorry for that she thinks it is you.” Larry tells
the ladies, “That’s ok; I too also lost someone close some years ago. Things are just not the same the way, they
use to be when that happens. So I know what she is going through.” He kisses her hand as they let each other go.
