Talk to anyone who has done it, and they will tell you that the hardest thing about working in a band is sticking together. Dusty Hundley (vocals), Jacob Earles (guitar), Carl Shankle (bass), and Jeff Mulvihill (drums) have built a band out of nothing but dreams, ambition and creativity growing as friends along the way. This is what makes it work for Wide Range.
Friends since childhood, Dusty and Jacob have been building a life in songs together. Gaining performance experience through regional cover bands and singing in church, these two have been life long musical brothers. The desire to push their creativity to the limits inspired them to leave their home state of Virginia and drove them to Nashville where they both quickly became mainstays in the world renowned singer-songwriter culture. Making the break from their homes, families, and relationships to pursue their dreams has inspired Wide Range favorites such as Won’t be in Love, As the Love Goes, and Goodbyes.
Born in Southeastern Missouri, Carl Shankle’s musical roots come from the soulful sounds of Memphis blues. Having found success working with various regional blues and rock acts throughout the Southeastern US, Carl was missing a creative outlet and set his sights on Nashville. Since early childhood in Michigan, Jeff Mulvihill has had a deep appreciation for a wide variety of music inspiring him to pursue a varied mix of musical experiences. Finding success in every musical situation from the symphony orchestra hall, to small smoky jazz clubs, to the rock & roll stage, Jeff was missing the creative element which sent him in several musical directions ending up in Nashville.
The four members of Wide Range found each other within the Nashville melting pot, and discovered that they all had one thing in common: The pursuit of making creative original music. Wide Range is a blend of sounds, grooves, and stories creatively mixed with the traditions and attitudes of both country and modern rock into a high energy show. Dusty, Jacob, Carl and Jeff have risen above the petty hardships that break most bands apart by channeling their creativity and hunger for success together as Wide Range.
