""With broken hearts and broken dreams…I cry out for relief", Malanna sings in "Wanna Know How I Feel" a self-written song that is coming out on her debut cd this fall called “A Musical Reflection Of Light. Malanna was born and raised in a small town in Melvindale. She comes from a small family of one sister and her mother with a father originally from Europe, who recently passed away.
Malanna began singing and playing piano around town at musical plays, ice arenas, and festivals, from the time she was five years old. Influenced by classical, opera, rock, and pop music, she started writing her own songs when she was sixteen years old. "I was trying to write my poems into songs", Malanna says. Malanna started learning piano when she was nine and today writes most of her songs on piano. “I have always been surrounded by all different types of music and wanted to combine them together into a unique sound.”, Malanna says.
She then began to produce projects and write songs with Terry Bolton. In 1999, She moved to Nashville. As she learned to work on other projects in the recording studio, She then started recording her own music in 2006.
“I heard these songs in my head and had to record them. It was haunting
me, like a ghost“, Malanna says.
There's a strong deep bluesish gospel feel to Malanna’s debut single, "Wanna Know How I Feel", released March 2007 and she mixes outstanding vocals with pop melodies that swirl around operatic flavored rock. "Wanna Know How I Feel" has already hit internet radio.
Although Malanna has been through many obstacles in her life, it is apparent that she has risen above them. Her music and performing gives her strength and inspiration. Malanna loves to connect with her audience while performing. She has a true essence of talent and love for her music. Malanna Monroe is sure to shine a beam of musical light into your hearts!
Just stoppin’ by hopin’ you’re havin’ a great Sunday! It’s a beautiful day here in Jonesboro…looks like winter may be here early this year…We’re lookin’ forward to Thanksgiving and havin’ family and friends come by. I hope all is well and you’re doin’ well. I’m really lookin’ forward to decorating for Christmas…I taken over that job my Grandfather loved to do each and every year. I always remember as I’m decorating our home how he loved this time of year, how he loved our visits and how he loved kids coming by their home to look at his decorations. Unlike Gramps I don’t make all my decorations…his were all handmade out of his shop. I guess I did get the talent of working in my shop from him…really wish my grandmother and him could have lived to see me decorate our home, but I’m sure they look down on us year round and he’s proud of me carrying on this family tradition. I’ll try to dig out some old Christmas pictures to share with ya’. Again hope all is well and good.
