Fate Vanderpool is the leader of The Rosebud Band. Rosebud consists of a group of Nashville session players that have played with many of the greatest talents that have ever recorded in Nashville. But, what they all have in common, besides their tremendous talent, is they have all played on Rosebud Records Artists sessions, all produced or co-produced by Fate Vanderpool.
Fate Vanderpool, joined the Nashville Union when he was only seventeen. Chet Atkins was his sponsor. They both played finger style guitar, together, on many sessions. He and Chet remained close friends until Chet's death.
The photo on our main page is of Fate Vanderpool in the center at one of the many Nashville sessions that he played on. This one was at the famed RCA Studio B, for his sister Harvie June Van who recorded on RCA. Chet Atkins was her Producer. Harvie June was married to RCA Producer/songwriter Bob Ferguson and he took this family photo.
From left to right on the back row, we have Doug Kirkham (married to Millie Kirkham of the Anita Kerr Singers) Chet Atkins, John D. Loudermilk (legendary session player and songwriter), Bob Moore (Bob played on more number ones than anyone else in the world, in any genre of music) and Velma Smith (piano), on the front row we have brother Fed Vanderpool, who was at this session to sing background/harmony with his brother and sister) Fed had a record deal himself with Columbia Records and he recorded under the name of Van Houston.
That's me, Fate Vanderpool (arms crossed in the center of the photo) I played guitar on this session and also sang back ground harmony with my brother Fed, and my sister Harvie June Van, who is standing next to me in the photo.
Over the next few months I hope to share some memories of those sessions with those of you who are interested in hearing an old mans stories.
I currently have the privelage of working with Gene Golden who worked with Kenny Rogers for twenty-one years. Gene Golden is one of the most talented folks I've ever had the privelage of knowing, and I've worked with most of the giants within the industry. Gene Golden and I are currently recording three beautiful and talented ladies from Michigan, they perform under the name of J3. We go back into the studio in March to finish recording their album "Best of Friends" and also their first Christmas album. In fact this is my first Christmas album.
Gene Golden is playing lead on Amazing Grace Gene, let's Johnny Bellar (on Dobro) and I have a little fun together on Good For Us. Take a listen to the instrumentals and our special guest this month J3 and let us know what you think about our music.

Influences
Merle Travis, Chet Atkins and his father Harvey Houston Vanderpool also a guitar picker and songwriter for Four Star Paramount, Acuff-Rose Music and Cavet-Vanderpool Publishing/BMI all in Nashville, Tennessee.
And his dear friend Jerry Anderson, who lives in Ohio, one of the greatest pickers on earth.
Sounds Like
Fate plays fingerstyle like Merle Travis and Chet. Except Fate says he's younger and plays better than Chet. (Chet is smiling back from Heaven)
