biography
Kim McLean is an award winning songwriter formerly known as Kim Patton-Johnston with over 200 songwriting credits from Tim McGraw, Trisha Yearwood, to Sister Vestal Goodman. As a producer, Kim has worked with acts in country music like Jennifer Hanson, Robin English, and a long-time friendship and collaboration with Canadian superstar, Lisa Brokop - the result of which was a CCMA nomination for Album of the Year, Song of the Year, and Lisa's Female Vocalist Nomination in 2005.
Kim McLean's production work with Americana artist, Eve Selis and Gospel artist, Misty Freeman has also produced award winning works both in the studio and through songwriting. In 2003, Kim felt called back to the spotlight as an artist, after turning down several record deals in the past in order to raise her children. For the return to the calling of artist...she returned to her birthname, a recapturing of her identity as she did a 360 degree turn back to the dreams she brought to Nashville from her native North Carolina mountains years ago.
Kim McLean's Irish-Cherokee roots shine as brightly as her Gospel-grass ones in a hybrid genre, she calls Hippie Chick Twang, also the name of her own indie record label.
Kim McLean's CD "Happy Face" contains the Just Plain Folk Award's Americana Song of the Year, "Forever Every Day", also recorded by Lee Ann Womack. Other gems on the album include the latest single, a McLean/Brokop co-write "All About Us" and a duet with Dolly Parton, "Angels and Eagles".
Kim McLean music is available at CDBaby, Amazon, and iTunes, as well as Borders Bookstores.
