“Soldiers & Family Relief Fund"
Sun. August 17, 2008
"Project OCOL" is now Involved in a joint effort with The “Soldiers & Family Relief Fund", in a combined effort to raise much needed funds for our military members and their facilities who are in Crisis or are in need of emergency help.
Call it a mistake or divine intervention....but it all started when I sent a song that I helped write, called “Everyday I'm Hanging’ On” Written by Tamra L Smith, Carmella Inchierchiera & Randall Johns to Kat who runs OCOL on Digital Rodeo, to listen to, since her daughter is currently serving as well as my son, in Iraq. (Randall Johns also Co-wrote American Soldier on the line with me) which is currently on the Project OCOL website
It was meant for her ears only since it wasn't finished, but she mistakenly thought we wanted it up on the OCOL Player. Allison Janisse was set to record the song which is written from the perspective of a wife of a soldier who has been away for a long time. This all started at the time we were trying to raise funds and get people to help out in sending out care packages to some soldiers in need.
Allison read about OCOL and wanted to help. She decided to donate money from every album that sells. $1.00 for the song and an extra $2.00 from the proceeds from the rest of the CD. (A very gracious and generous offer from Allison Janisse and CatJan Records Inc. and CatJan Publishing Inc.) I was adamant about wanting the funds to go to Project OCOL and directly to the soldiers who need the money. So this is how it all came to be.
We are hoping that Allison's generous donation will inspire more artists to become involved in our cause. The Money will go to send off care packages to soldiers who don't have family members, soldiers who are injured and need help, families who are in crisis and going through hard times while their soldier is away and for their children who may need help with clothes, school, daycare, etc….. All cases will be reviewed and determined who is in the greatest need of help on a case by case basis.
Seeing what my son and his family have had to deal with while he has been away for 11 months has opened my eyes to the problems these soldiers (mostly, with very young families and babies), who are protecting our Country, face every day.
Please, join us in our effort to raise the money and pass the word along.
Sincerely, Tamra Lynn smith
