August 04, 2008 OK, OK...we always make fun of Clay for being late and missing the bus etc etc....technically I didn't MISS the bus......here's the deal....we play a slammin show to the folks at Big Valley Jamboree in Camrose AB this past Friday night, then we hop on the bus, watch The Dewy Cox story for the 87th time, and then crawl into our bunks and off to dreamland, where visions of sold out crowds dance in our heads....4am, bus driver (Bud, best dang driver this side of the Peeko's...)stops at a truck stop for fuel and a coffee....I decided this was a good time for me to get up and grab a coffee and a stretch myself....so Bud never saw me leave the bus, and we never saw each other in the building either....then I decide to hit the little Cowboy's room before I head back to the bus.....in my state of grog, I had forgotten THE RULE!!!!!...ALWAYS leave some thing on the drivers seat B4 you get off the bus so he knows someone has left....well, that's it...I see the Battlestar Profilactica roll into the sweet northern Alberta morning mist...no problem, I'll just dial up my cell phone and call them to....?!?!?!?! AAARRrrgghhhh!!! I can't believe it, I left my phone on the bus....no $$, no phone, no socks, messy hair, and a bus tan, stuck in a truck stop......and the best part is that I don't know anybody's cell #, since I use speed dial all the time!!!! So I ring up (pay phone with a few special phone numbers scratched into the booth wall...Lolita, we'll give you a call this eve)...so I ring up the sleeping bride, who LOVES IT when I wake her up when I've done something stupid, she hops on the phone, and after about 30 minutes of finding one of the guys who actually have their phones TURNED ON, I get the mother ship to come around to get me....Bud rolls up, and calmly opens the door, and I hop on with the entire truck stop wondering, how come that bus came and picked up that homeless guy....

I'm stopping at Office Depot and I'm going to buy one of those IN/OUT boards you see in the front office of an insurance company....NEW RULE!!
