Playing well over 100 shows during their first year together and releasing the single “Too Damn Good” on West Virginia Radio, The George Shingleton Band has established themselves as a solid group in North Central West Virginia and surrounding areas. With such an aggressive playing schedule, The George Shingleton Band has been able to gain an outstanding fan base one show at a time. Their approach is simple, practice hard and bring it to every single show. It is more than just music, it is a passion and it is expressed in every song they play. Drawing inspiration from artists such as Waylon Jennings, Merle Haggard and Hank Williams Jr., The George Shingleton Band has its roots in country music. They take traditional country, add an incredible amount of drive and finish it with a modern twist. This unique style of playing allows their music to be embraced by a broad audience. though the Band considers themselves a country act, they pride themselves on their versatility. They can go from Travis Tritt to The Beatles to Sublime, inspiring the most selective crowds. Before forming the George Shingleton Band, George had a very successful career playing acoustic shows in North Central West Virginia. He got his start by singing and playing for friends around the campfire, and then later decided to seriously pursue music. In 2008, George was the winner of the Kick’in Country Showdown Vocalist Contest held during Mountain Fest in Morgantown, WV. He has opened up for national acts such as Bo Bice, Emerson Drive and Bucky Covington. His strong soulful vocals have the ability to captivate an audience with just a single verse. Together, The George Shingleton Band has just begun their ascent towards a career in music. It begins with individual talent that is combined to deliver an unforgettable performance. They also take the time to get to know the people who come out to support their music. During the summer of 09’ the band opened for their first national act, Keith Anderson, at the Butler Co. Fair. Currently they are working on songs for their first album which will be recorded and released in 2010. The George Shingleton Band always brings their very best to their music and performances.
