biography
Pam Tillis started performing professionally as a student on the University of Tennessee college club circuit and went on to dabble in rock, jazz, rhythm and blues, disco and pop. She matured into a successful jingle, session singer and staff writer for Warner Bros publishing; artists as diverse as Conway Twitty, Chaka Kahn, Highway 101 and Martina McBride have cut her songs.
When Tillis finally decided after one pop album and an odd single or two to come home to country music, the result was a winning streak in the 1990s of six number ones and 14 top-ten hits racking up sales of more than five million. In 1994 Tillis was crowned CMA’s female vocalist of the year. Other milestones have been two Grammy awards and a slew of ACM and Grammy nominations. As an actress, she starred in Leiber and Stoller’s “Smokey Joe’s Café” on Broadway and appeared in the TV series Promised Land and L.A. Law.
Pam was inducted into the Grand Ole Opry in 2000. Her last album, “It’s All Relative,” a tribute to her father Mel Tillis, was No. 4 on USA Today’s top-ten country records of 2002.
Pam’s latest ventures include starting her own record label and releasing her first studio album in 5 years “Rhinestoned” which came out on April 17th, 2007.
Pam will continue to tour extensively to the delight of country fans worldwide.
