Crazy Week...
Wed. June 18, 2008
I tell you what this past week has been one crazy ride!! I told you things were changing…I just didn't know how much!!!!!!!! In the past week I have bought a new car – I traded in my 2000 Yellow VW Bug for a 2008 Salsa Red VW Bug…I know I'm a creature of habit. I also found a new guitar – it's practically indestructible – it's called a RainSong and it's made completely out of Graphite. So it can be hot, cold, wet, dry…dropped. I'm still not sure if I'm crazy about it yet but I have 55 more days to decide if I like it. It's completely black except for the inlays. It has sharks up and down the neck…I'm not sold on the sharks, but we'll see. I'll try to put some pictures of it out here soon. Another big change this week is that my fabulous hair stylist, Misty (no not me, that's really her name…I don't do my own highlights), styled my hair for the last time because she's moving to Texas. So, now I'll have to find someone else to fill her shoes..which will be extremely hard to do! Don't get me wrong change is a good thing…if nothings changing, you are probably standing still or dead, so I'm good with change. It just seems like a lot all at once – but it keeps things interesting!
My show last Friday at Windows Off The Cumberland with Keith Moody was awesome. We were all hanging out before the show just waiting around killin' time like musicians often do and in walked the biggest surprise ever…my older brother Guy. He drove into town just in time for the show and stayed all weekend to celebrate Father's Day with my dad. I don't remember the last time he was at a show, so it was really something special. If you want to see some pics of the night, check out my tagged photo section or visit Keith's site (www.myspace.com/keithmoodymusic)
Yesterday I got to be part of Musician's On Call (MOC). MOC is an organization that connects artists in Nashville with patients at Vanderbilt Medical Hospital. I found out about MOC thanks to my friend Jaclyn North. I generally go one or two Tuesdays a month and play for Cancer patients. This time we went over to the Trauma unit as well – I have to be honest, I know music can have a powerful affect on people who are hurting, but I felt somewhat guilty playing my songs to very heavy hearts. I watched the doctors and nurses hurrying about to help these people survive, and it made me wonder if playing one song on my guitar really had a lasting impact. I suppose I'll never know, but I do know it made some people smile yesterday…
Anyways, I have an acoustic show on Saturday @ Hot Spot in Franklin with my friends, ChildsPlay. I'll be playing from 7-8pm and they will follow with an hour set. Then next week the official full band practices begin – I CANNOT WAIT!
That's all for now…more to come. I still haven't told you about Josephine – trust me it's a good story!
