Jon was born and raised in a very small town in California, just north of Los Alamos.
He taught himself to sing and write songs on an old Silvertone acoustic guitar that his mother purchased for his father out of a Sears' Wishbook as an anniversary present.

[FULL VERSION]
Jon the storyteller. Jon the composer. Jon the performer. Jon the engineer. Jon the graphic designer. Jon the survivor. What would cause a person to live through so much heartache and loss and yet create such art? Is it because of the personal darkness he has endured that all of this music brilliantly illuminates so?
The facts: Jon is a trained singer who writes all of his own compositions (and songs for others) with amazing agility and swiftness, becoming the characters he writes about in each new performance. He professionally plays over 20 instruments on which he is self-taught. He is an engineer and producer who loves to study his craft and constantly improve it and push its boundaries.
Jon often customizes his equipment to suit his demanding needs including rare microphones, guitars, amps and speaker cabinets. His voracious appetite for wisdom keeps his few spare moments filled with the search for new understandings of how the universe ticks.
Since he was a young boy (his nick-name was "Tinker") he always took things apart to see how they worked. Not yet a teenager, he could disassemble and rewire cassette and reel-to-reel recorders and the occasional turntable to create amplification for his musical performances.
When he wasn’t writing or performing his music, he would create multi-media displays for the songs he enjoyed on the radio using anything to hand such as table lamps, construction paper and nail polish of any woman who happened to be in the vicinity.
His father passed away when Jon was 14. When he was 15, the girl of his dreams died returning from a concert because of a drunk driver in another car. At 16, he graduated early from high school so that he could pursue his desire to perform his music. He left the small town he was raised in and headed for the big city, Los Angeles. And that is where he resides today, after brief stays in Seattle, Sacramento and Ventura.
His music is a window into his workshop where he continues to try to take the universe apart to put it back together the way he thinks it should be.
