CMA MUSIC FEST

I had a blast at CMA Music fest! I really look forward to it every year because it's the one time that all of you (or quite a few of you) come to MY hometown instead of me having to travel to see YOU! Should be easier then shouldn't it?
NO! cuz there aint anywhere to park, and some people at venues are rude and pushy and in a rush...and that's the people that are from Nashville!!! What the...!!
Seriously though, what I just said is a little bit exaggerated but it's still true to a degree. In a perfect world there wouldn't be so many people here and you could all actually come visit and see how awesome NAshville is. There is so much History and tradition and TALENT!! It's amazing! It's the first town I've ever lived in where there are more like me than not. I've always been a night owl since I was a little boy, and this town is full of them! I've always written stories and poems and songs and this town is full of those kinds of people too. You know,...creative types.
Now let me tell you about us creative types! We are all certifiably ADD and ADHD! LOL The higher the level of creativity it seems the higher level of ADD or ADHD we are! Yes I'm talking about ME too! If it wasn't for Kelly I'd forget to go to bed or to get up! The bad thing about creativity is we need someone to help us be organized or we'd never get anything done! I'd write songs on napkins if somebody a little more together than I am didn't shove a notepad and pencil or a laptop in front of me. If not for Wesley Pryor I and Kirk and Robert would still be in the middle of writing a song when it was time for the show to start!! Seriously!!
Where am I going with this you may ask?
People! Too many people are already here when YOU get here for CMA music fest! Why? Because us creative types have to have the organizational types! Understand what I mean?
For every songwriter and guitar player, mandolin player, fiddle player, washboard player(well maybe not THOSE) singers etc that moves here to chase their dream, some smart know it all organizational guru has to move here too just to keep us creative types remembering to breathe and reminding us not to walk out in front of an oncoming vehicle!! See what I mean? And some of us have more than one person...we have to have SEVERAL!! Like me, I have Kelly, who reminds me to brush my teeth, makes sure my clothes match, and that I always wear two socks of the same size (they're all white but some are short and some are tall and so on). Then theres my business manager who makes sure that my bills are paid for Jeff Bates Entertainment Incorporated, my personal Managers who make sure that I make it to important meetings and convention booths and interviews, and so on.
That's why there's already so many people here by the time YOU get here!
So on behalf of everybody that might have been a little testy to you during CMA Music Fest week, let me appologize to you on their behalf. They spend every day of every normal week having to chase around us creative types, and then when visitors come to town, it just adds to their stress and they totally freak! So cut 'em a little slack ok?
Anyway, it was great seeing you all And I hope you all had as wonderful an experience as I did! (Thanks to the organizational types)!!
