Inspiration My name is Tod "Ashley Best" a 31 yr old singer/songwriter who has dreamed of a career in music since I was a young boy. At the age of 18 my father told me, I was neither good enough, nor capable of having a career in music. I got married when I was 22 yrs. old to Beth Ann Thomas, who was 19yrs old. We had our first daughter Kayla Marie. I followed the road my father had made for me, by being a farmer.I tried my hardest to please him. Beth saw that I wasn't truely happy. She encouraged me to pursue music. I started by entering Karaoke Contests. I wasn't satisfied doing karaoke. I wanted to create my own music. Beth always said there was nothing she wouldn't do to help me, She always stood by my side with my career in music. When Beth was 26 yrs. old we had our second daughter Carly Madison. Beth had to have surgery done when Carly was 9 months old. Beth had complications from the surgery and passed away 3 days later. I stayed by her side the whole time and was there when she passed away. After she passed away the words and music just came to me, like magic.Sometimes it was like she was speaking the words for me. After 2 yrs. of writing, I finally started recording some of the songs. Two songs on my 1st CD are do to the events of the passing of my wife.These 2 songs I hold very close to my heart."Just waiting on the day" a song I wrote 2 months after Beth passed away telling her that next time we meet, time won't end. The other song is the title of my album, The Hardest Thing I'll Ever Do. is about the day after Beth passed away, I was sitting in the living room and was thinking how life couldn't get any worse, and I heard my our daughter Kayla coming down the stairs. I realized The hardest thing I was ever going to have to do was about to happen. I had to tell my daughter that her mommy wasn't coming home..
I have never givin up on my music career and never will. I believe that Beth is still with me everytime I go on stage. I believe she will guide me down the road that I have choosen. She was and still is my biggest fan.
